I would caution that the commercial use of facial recognition technology could lead to identity theft in the event, for example, that the facial and fingerprint image is employed for identification verification. I would be concerned that the facial recognition technology could get misappropriated by stalkers, predators, pedaphiles, and other dangerous persons. I would rather see this technology employed only by law enforcement and government agencies or for government security concerns.

Hi there,

The document published yesterday on the Mexican Official Gazette of the Federation (December 21, 2011) is the official one, not a final draft as such. The Regulations of the Federal Law for the Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties entered in force on December 22, 2011 although there are several provisions that are relevant, as for example a period of 18 months (since December 22, 2011) to adopt and implement security measures according to its articles 57 to 66 (Chapter III, on security measures and data breaches). Therefore, this is the official regulation already in force.

Best,

MR

Good information and I think this process will take more time. There has to be some other methods to implement it.

It's good to see Peru is participating in the free trade agreement with the UN, US and Canada. Foreign trade can help boost Peru's economy through exports, tourism and imports as well. Soon Peru will no longer be considered a 3rd world country.

Interesting that you did not mention that the "initiative" of the Ministry did not find the approval of DPAs
<a href="https://www.datenschutzzentrum.de/presse/20110908-innenminister-facebook.htm" rel="nofollow">https://www.datenschutzzentrum.de/presse/20110908-innenminister-facebook.htm</a>
It is not within the competencies of the Ministry to "negotiate" whether a company complies with data protection law.
